ELEMENTARY TEACHER - KIKENDAWT KINOOMAADII GAMIG
2018-2019 SCHOOL YEAR (CONTRACT)
DOKIS FIRST NATION
The Dokis First Nation is seeking an energetic, self-motivated individual for the 2018-2019 school year. The successful applicant will be responsible for but not limited to teaching students in grades JK, SK and Grade 1. Applicants must have a sincere understanding of First Nation history and culture.
Main Duties:
- Teaching students in grades JK, SK and Grade 1
- Teaching art/music to all students
- Evaluation of students through standard report cards
- Developing lesson plans
- Communication with parents
- Other duties within the Kikendawt Kinoomaadii Gamig Policies.
Qualifications:
- Must be a member of the Ontario College of Teachers
- Ability to develop and maintain a positive classroom environment
- Willingness to work within a flexible timetable
- Highly motivated and positive when dealing with students, staff and parents
- Demonstrate ability to work collaboratively with staff, students and parents
- Demonstrate abilities to plan, organize, instruct and evaluate learning activities
- Basic computer skills required
- Strong command of the English language
- Special education and Anishinaabemowin language will be considered assets
Salary: To be determined based on qualifications & within the Dokis First Nation salary grid.

VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN PREVENTION PROGRAM DIRECTOR
Manitoulin Family Resources is seeking a Program Director to lead and manage its Violence Against Women prevention programs, including Haven House shelter and all VAW-related counselling programs. The successful candidate will have a relevant post-secondary degree (BA req'd, Master's pref) and be a current member of the OCSWSSW. Experience delivering client-led VAW programs from a harm reduction, feminist perspective is required, as is 1-3 years experience in a management role. Experience working in a unionized environment is an asset. Clear VSS, Current CPR and First Aid, financial management skills, computer and software proficience, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills are all required. Posting to close Sept.10.
